There is a lot happening in Bismarck

This week saw NDSU’s Research and Extension budget hearing by the House Appropriations subcommittee which dives deeper into the details. It seems from the discussion on this bill, HB 1020, that the number one priority coming in is going to be fully funded. Now called the Ag Field Lab, this $97 million facility would be a victory for plant breeding and combatting pathology in North Dakota crops. Testimony was submitted for that as well as Northern Crops Institute, Upper Great Plains Transportation Inst., Agronomy Seed Farm, and Main and Branch extension stations – all in HB 1020. 

We also weighed in on HB 1430 in House Finance and Tax which helps the Marathon plant in South Heart which will be taking oil from at least one of the crush plants. Running around to many, many policy bills such as UAS (drone) grants for $1 million in HB 1519, water drainage bill meetings, etc. 

Tomorrow brings another zoning bill HB 1423, followed by HB 1501 – the North Dakota Soybean Council bill which would shed redundant state regulations since the Council is already supervised by the Federal checkoff.
